Water for Life South Punjab – No. 5
Jampur, District Rajanpur: The Hamza Baig Welfare Society Jhelum says it feels deeply satisfied to continue its efforts under the Water for Life initiative, providing this vital form of ongoing charity before and after Muharram and, InshaAllah, in the future as well.
The shortage of safe drinking water in these remote areas is far greater than many people can imagine. With limited resources and inadequate access to essential facilities, vulnerable communities are facing serious health challenges, including kidney-related illnesses and other diseases associated with unsafe water.
In Jampur, District Rajanpur, a local mosque previously had neither a reliable water supply nor electricity. Around 100 households in the surrounding community also lacked access to drinking water. The underground water available in the area is highly saline and contaminated.
As part of its Water for Life project, the Hamza Baig Welfare Society installed a 160-foot-deep water bore beside the mosque and constructed an ablution area. An automatic community water tap was also installed for local residents, while the entire system was connected to solar energy to ensure a more sustainable water supply.
The project also introduced an environmentally beneficial use of wastewater. Water from ablution facilities is being reused to grow vegetables, allowing the mosque’s Qari Sahib to benefit from the produce.
In addition to the water facilities, the society provided carpets for the mosque, a ceiling fan, foam prayer mats for children studying the Quran, and prayer caps for worshippers.
The complete initiative cost approximately Rs. 350,000.
The welfare society noted that several other mosques in these underserved areas still lack basic facilities such as water and electricity. Worshippers, children and local residents have expressed their gratitude and continue to pray for the Hamza Baig Welfare Society and its supporters.
May Allah Almighty accept this Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity) and reward everyone supporting the initiative. May its benefits reach the entire Ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
