Rescue 1122 Jhelum Conducts Flood Preparedness Mock Exercise Ahead of Monsoon Season
Jhelum, May 23, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Jhelum, Saniya Safi, reviewed the district’s preparations for potential flooding and the upcoming monsoon season, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures to protect lives and property.
Following directives from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab and the Secretary Emergency Services, Rescue 1122 Jhelum organized a flood mock exercise along the Jhelum River. The exercise was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Jhelum Saniya Safi, Assistant Commissioner Jhelum Aftab Ashraf, Hamza Baig, President of Hamza Baig Welfare Society, as well as representatives from the Health, Irrigation, Livestock, Civil Defence, Municipal Corporation Jhelum, Public Health Engineering, Agriculture and other departments.
District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Jhelum, Engineer Farhan Mirza, briefed participants on the emergency response strategy for possible flood situations. The briefing covered the establishment of flood response sectors, deployment of rescue teams in vulnerable areas, emergency evacuation procedures, water-rescue operations and the provision of first aid to affected and rescued individuals.
Saniya Safi described the preparedness of Rescue 1122 Jhelum and other government departments as satisfactory. She stressed that assisting communities during disasters is a challenging responsibility and urged all departments to work together to ensure an effective and coordinated response.
She further directed the relevant departments to maintain comprehensive preparedness before the onset of flooding and assured the administration’s full cooperation and support.
During her visit, the Additional Deputy Commissioner also inspected information and service stalls established by Rescue 1122, Health, Livestock, Civil Defence, Education, Public Health Engineering, Irrigation, Social Welfare and Local Government departments. She urged all participating institutions to ensure efficient delivery of emergency services to citizens during any flood-related emergency.
The Hamza Baig Welfare Society and Rescue 1122 Jhelum also reaffirmed their commitment to working together to safeguard precious lives and property during emergencies.
