Hamza Baig Welfare Society Brings Clean Water to Needy Families in South Punjab

Water for Life Brings Safe Drinking Water to a Bereaved Family in Dera Ghazi Khan

Dera Ghazi Khan: When a compassionate person learns about the suffering of others, their own hardships often seem smaller. This spirit of empathy is at the heart of the Water for Life initiative launched by the Hamza Baig Welfare Society in underserved areas of South Punjab.

In Kot Chhutta Tehsil of Dera Ghazi Khan District, a family faced an unimaginable tragedy when the husbands of a mother-in-law and her two daughters-in-law lost their lives in the same road accident. Left behind were young children and women who work in the fields to support their families.

For years, the women had to travel a considerable distance to collect water for their homes. The situation was made even more difficult because the first and second underground water layers in the area were contaminated and saline.

Thankfully, through the drilling of a deeper water source, sweet and usable groundwater was successfully accessed from the third underground water layer.

The severe lack of resources in this part of South Punjab is difficult to put into words. Recognizing the needs of such vulnerable communities, the Hamza Baig Welfare Society launched its Water for Life program to provide relief to people who are among the most deserving and disadvantaged members of society.

Today, women from the surrounding area are also able to collect water directly from the household, saving them the exhausting journey they previously had to make.

The welfare society has appealed to people to support the Water for Life initiative so that more deserving families can benefit from this ongoing charitable work.

May Allah Almighty accept these efforts as Sadaqah Jariyah and grant their benefits to the entire Ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Ameen, Ya Rabb-ul-Alameen. 🤲
